Waze appoints new Country Manager for the Philippines

With Manila ranking first among the cities around the world with the worst traffic condition in 2017, Waze has a serious business here in the Philippines. Strengthening its leadership in the country, the Google-owned company behind the world's largest community-based mobility app announced the appointment of Sarah Rodriguez as the Country Manager for the Philippines. Rodriguez was the Head of Digital Sales, Digital Media Division of ABS-CBN Corporation. She also played a role in Yahoo Philippines as its Digital Solutions Manager before her position at the country's largest media conglomerate. LRMC crowdsources for apps to better LRT-1 via Hackatren

Private rail operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) is stepping up its approach on improving the commuting experience of its patrons. Collaborating with the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde Hub for Innovation for Inclusion (DLS-CSB HIFI), LRMC recently launched Hackatren, a hackathon which aims to crowdsource for IT-centric solutions such as mobile applications that will help in making the customer experience on LRT-1 better. “LRMC believes in the Filipino talent,” LRMC President and CEO Juan Alfonso said. “With Hackatren, we will showcase the IT programming skills of Filipinos.
