On the first day of the availability of the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 in the Philippines, Huawei proudly announced that that it successfully sold P200,000,000-worth of the newly-launched smartphone model within just two hours.
The latest release is Huawei's new addition to the company's growing roster of smartphones for the Filipino market. Running on Huawei’s very own Kirin 710F chipset and EMUI operating system based on Android 9.0 Pie, the Y9 Prime 2019 combines features such as an auto pop-up front camera, triple AI camera system, long battery life, high-end graphics, and aesthetically-appealing design.
“We will not stop. We will continue to provide Filipino consumers with innovations and products that they deserve,” said George Li, the Country Manager of Huawei Consumer Business Group in the Philippines.
One of the most notable features of the Y9 Prime 2019 is its auto pop-up camera which automatically pops up when the user switches from rear camera to front camera mode. In this mode, the front camera automatically emerges and hovers over the screen in a fashion similar to a submarine periscope appearing from under the surface. This ability allows the phone to achieve a bezel-less and notch-less display, resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio. In addition, the pop-up camera is equipped with an intelligent protection mechanism that detects free falls and retracts the lens.
Using a 16-megapixel image sensor, the front camera, like the rear camera, is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) which allows the phone to discern objects. Supporting up to eight scenarios, AI optimizes camera settings to come up with images that retain details with stunning clarity and vibrant colors.
On the rear side, the Y9 Prime carries a 16MP+8MP+2MP triple rear camera system. The 16-megapixel camera Both the 16-megapixel main camera and the 8-megapixel secondary camera makes use of a 6P (six-lens plastic array) design. The 16-megapixel sensor with F1.8 aperture for low noise and fast focusing, whereas the 8-megapixel sensor integrates an ultrawide-angle lens for 120-degree wide-angle shots, ideal for landscape photography. Meanwhile, the 2-megapixel sensor works with the primary camera to generate depth of field in the photo. Additional features such as night mode and 480 FPS super slow-motion videos offer more room for photographic creativity and flexibility.
Sporting a 6.59-inch bezel-less screen, the Y9 Prime 2019 features an Ultra Full View Display. In spite of its large screen, the phone retains the grip and feel of a 5.5-inch handset. The elegant-looking back cover is made of 3D composite material (3D PC/PMMA) that glistens like glass but is durable and shatter-resistant.
At the core of the Y9 Prime 2019 beats a 12nm Kirin 710F chipset coupled with a 4GB RAM, 128GB ROM, and EMUI 9.0, resulting in lightning-fast performance, yet low power consumption. Adding to the stamina of the smartphone is a 4000mAh battery which is rechargeable via a USB Type-C port.
In the Philippines, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is available at P12,990 in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green color variants.
