Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) has issued its final call to all GSIS UMID and GSIS eCard holders to claim their EMV-chip enabled cards by June 30, 2018, the deadline set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for EMV migration in order to have more secure transactions.

UnionBank is set to deactivate all magnetic stripe cards by end of the month and these can no longer be used for any transactions beyond the deactivation date. GSIS pensioners and members may visit www.unionbank.com/gsis, and use their GSIS number or common reference number (CRN) to determine their designated card pick up location.

They may claim their EMV cards at 44 designated GSIS onsite offices from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Mondays through Saturdays, except holidays; at three designated UnionBank branches from 9:00AM to 3:00PM, Mondays through Fridays (except holidays), and at three non-UnionBank branch and non-GSIS onsite offices. The pickup sites will be actively distributing cards until June 30, 2018. For GSIS pensioners abroad, their cards will be mailed to their registered address on the agency's records.

Further encouraging GSIS cardholders to claim, those who will pick up their cards from May 28 (today) to June 30 will be qualified to join the Get Your GSIS EMV UMID / eCard Promo. Participants will get a chance to take home PhP 10,000 worth of SM or Cebu Pacific gift certificates. Log on to www.unionbankph.com/GSISemv for the mechanics.

Meanwhile, SSS members may claim their EMV-enabled cards at the UnionBank kiosk at the SSS branch where their UMID/Quickcard was issued from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Mondays through Fridays, except holidays. UMID cardholders will be issued a temporary UnionBank Quickcard. For SSS pensioners, cards can be claimed at their maintaining UnionBank branch.

All cards claimed will be activated the following banking day. For more information, cardholders may visit www.unionbankph.com/emvfaqs or contact the UnionBank Customer Service Hotline at (632) 841-8600.
