Designed to save educators more valuable time to spend with their students, Google’s AI tools for education are bringing practical efficiency directly into Philippine classrooms and strengthening the human connection between teacher and learner.
Building on the tools’ core benefits for Filipino teachers and in celebration of Teacher’s Month this October, Google Philippines recently launched the Google AI Educator Series (GES), a no-cost, on-demand training module designed to give educators practical AI skills they can use immediately.
Featuring bite-sized and self-paced online modules ranging from 15 to 45 minutes, the program allows participants to earn digital badges while giving them time back to focus on direct student interaction, creative pedagogy, and classroom connection.
At the heart of this program is a teacher-first vision that positions AI as a helpful assistant—not a replacement for essential educators. With the GES, Filipino teachers can get help and support in the following areas:
Accelerating students’ research skills: The Planning the Inquiry module demonstrates how to use Gemini's Deep Research feature to build skills in student research and inquiry for papers and theses.
Strategic Government Partnerships for Nationwide Reach
The recent GES launch at Google Philippines brought together key education leaders and policymakers to introduce practical AI upskilling pathways for educators and faculty nationwide. The nationwide rollout makes practical AI training easily accessible to teachers and faculty across basic, higher, and technical-vocational education.
The GES’s content complements government efforts to promote AI literacy and responsible adoption alongside initiatives from DepEd, CHED, and TESDA.
It is designed to support the shared objectives of DepEd’s national framework for responsible, ethical, and human-centered AI integration in basic education, supporting the three strategic pillars of classroom application, AI literacy, and institutional governance under DepEd Order No. 003, s. 2026: Foundational Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence in Basic Education; CHED Memorandum Order No. 21, s. 2026 on the responsible adoption and use of AI in higher education; and TESDA Circular No. 042, s. 2024 and related micro-credential guidelines for AI.
"Learning is central to everything we do at Google, and our commitment to Philippine education has always been a top priority," said Prep Palacios, Google Philippines Country Manager. "We know that while AI is transforming both education and educators, technology is a tool that supports the physical and mental capacities of our teachers in their work. It allows them to focus more on the important role of the actual teaching of their classes and subjects and strengthening human connections with their students.”
“Following our ongoing initiative of training one million DepEd educators, the Google AI Educator Series takes that commitment further—offering bite-sized, practical tools that ease administrative burdens while keeping human connection and pedagogy firmly at the center of learning," Palacios added.
"Building a future-ready nation starts with supporting our teachers. Our public school teachers carry a heavy workload every day, from crafting lesson plans to administrative reporting," said DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara. "Through our partnership with Google and the integration of the Google AI Educator Series GES into our enablement programs for teachers and staff , we are giving our teachers practical tools that lighten their administrative load. This allows them to spend less time on paperwork and more time doing what they do best: teaching and mentoring our learners."
“Higher education must lead the way in leveraging artificial intelligence responsibly for advanced research, modern pedagogy, and student development,” said CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis. “CHED welcomes practical learning opportunities like the Google AI Educator Series (GES) that can benefit our faculty as they explore new digital capabilities. AI training should empower educators to reduce routine work, strengthen teaching and research, and create better learning experiences, while keeping mentorship, academic judgment, and human connection at the heart of higher education.”
"Technical-vocational education must keep pace with modern workplace technologies," stated TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez. "Hosting the Google AI Educator Series on the e-TESDA platform means we are opening access to future-ready education to as many Filipinos as possible. This will empower anyone, not just educators, to integrate AI in their work and help ensure that our graduates receive modern, relevant instruction from tech-empowered trainers."
Safe, Responsible, and Practical AI for Classrooms
The GES emphasizes safe, ethical, and responsible technology usage. Modules cover practical classroom applications, prompt engineering for educators, data privacy, and academic integrity guidelines.
Educators can access the free training modules immediately through the e-TESDA portal, or by visiting the official Google AI Educator Series page.
