Hot on the heels of the successful PRURide PH 2019, Pru Life UK recently staged an event as a ceremonial send-off for its Filipino ambassadors to the biggest cycling festival in the world, the Prudential RideLondon. Happening from August 3 to 4, the event is anticipated to gather more than 100,000 world’s premier elite and recreational cyclists. Prudential RideLondon is part of the company’s advocacy that aims to encourage people to cycle more safely and more often.

For the first time, Pru Life UK is sending Filipino celebrities as ambassadors to the Prudential RideLondon. Pru Life UK’s Philippine team consists of celebrities Kim Atienza, Gretchen Ho, and Zoren Legaspi who gladly shared their experiences during the preparation period for the upcoming cycling event.

We are proud to have PRURide PH ambassadors Kuya Kim, Zoren, and Gretchen among our representatives to the world’s greatest festival of cycling,” said Allan Tumbaga, Pru Life UK Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Marketing Officer. We have seen their gift as cyclists during the recently-concluded PRURide PH 2019 and we are excited to see them perform in RideLondon. At the same time, they bring with them our advocacy of promoting health and fitness among Filipinos to this event.”

Ho is joining the Prudential RideLondon’s Surrey 46 (46 miles or 74 kilometers) category, whereas Atienza and Legaspi are competing in the Surrey 100 (100 miles or 160 kilometers) category. The Surrey 46 category is aimed toward newer and younger cyclists, while the Surrey 100 is catered toward more experienced cyclists. Both the Surrey 46 and 100 routes start at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and end at The Mall. Pru Life UK’s Philippine team will also be joined by two PruLifers, Ryan Benguelo and Nelsi Rabe, who will participate in Ho’s category.

Developed by the Mayor of London, Transport for London, and London & Partners in partnership with the Surrey County Council and sponsored by Prudential, RideLondon was initially conceptualized as an offshoot and legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games. It is composed of a series of events for amateur cyclists and professionals that culminates in the London-Surrey Classic. With the added incentive of raising money for charity, RideLondon is also one of the largest charity activities in the world.

“This is our fifth year to send an official delegation to the cycling festival,” shares Tumbaga. “Through this, we hope to support the company’s initiatives under We DO Health. As a life insurance company, we are committed to promoting not just financial security but also health and wellness.” Pru Life UK Philippine executives also revealed that the company is now preparing for the next edition of PRURide PH which is set to happen in the first quarter of 2020.
