Mapua University has officially solidified a groundbreaking and strategic tripartite collaboration with gaming powerhouse Capcom Singapore and industry linkage leader Prime Manpower through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed at the Mapúa University Intramuros campus. This milestone underscores the partners' commitment to delivering industry relevant, globally aligned education and strengthening the Philippines’ role in the rapidly evolving gaming, digital content, and intellectual property (IP) sectors across the ASEAN region.
The ceremonial signing marks a pivotal shift in how the country approaches digital creatives education, business management, and intellectual property. By bridging the gap between academic theory and the high stakes world of international game publishing and preparing students for international careers by integrating real world, industry validated learning experiences into its academic and professional development frameworks, Mapúa is ensuring that Filipino creators are no longer just consumers of global media but are actual architects behind it.
The landmark event was graced by key representatives from the partners, signaling the high level commitment behind the initiative. In attendance were Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and CEO of Mapúa University, together with his leadership team; Ricky Bian Li, Managing Director of Capcom Singapore; Motoki Okuyama, General Manager of Capcom Japan; Rommel Roque, President and CEO of Prime Manpower Philippines; Shinnosuke Miura, Chairperson of Sangakuren Org of Prime Manpower Japan; Hideaki Suzuki, Representative Chairperson of Sangakuren Org of Prime Manpower Japan, and other senior delegates from the partner institutions and the Osaka Institute of Technology who joined the event through online conference call. Their presence underscored an undeniably unified vision to integrate real world, industry validated learning experiences into the university’s academic and professional development frameworks.
A key initiative under the partnership is the planned launch of a program focused on Games, Intellectual Property, and Digital Culture. The program is designed to address the increasing demand for professionals who possess not only technical and creative skills, but also a strong understanding of IP development, management, and commercialization within the global digital economy.
Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and CEO of Mapúa University, highlighted the institutional weight of the signing:
“Today’s MOU signing represents a bold leap into the future of Philippine creative economy. By aligning Mapúa’s century long academic excellence with Capcom’s expertise and mastery of global hits, and Prime Manpower’s access to vast opportunities and direct pathways to the worldwide economy, we will definitely be providing students with an unprecedented competitive edge. Here at Mapúa, we are not just training students for jobs; we are empowering Filipino innovators to own their craft and lead the digital culture and IP revolution across the globe.”
The detailed structure of the program—including curriculum design, special lectures, and learning modules—will be developed in consultation with Capcom and industry experts, ensuring alignment with international standards and emerging industry practices.
The partnership will be executed through a highly structured, industry validated roadmap:
A critical component of the tripartite agreement is the involvement of Prime Manpower, which serves as the bridge to the professional world. Through this partnership, students will have access to direct internship pipelines and career pathways that meet the specific, high demand needs of the international gaming market.
This collaboration reinforces Mapúa University’s status as a premier institution for technology and innovation. As the university enters its second century, it continues to pioneer educational models that turn Filipino creativity into a formidable force in the global digital economy.
