With a prime aim of engaging bloggers in promoting the advocacies of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the country's military force recently conducted its first-ever Bloggers Engagement event held at the Bulwagang Reyes in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
The said event also aimed to engage the bloggers in preventing and countering violent extremism; promote the efforts of the AFP in doing its mandate; and make use of blogging as a platform to cascade information that the AFP is a non-partisan organization.
Major Alwin Maneja, the Group Commander of Media and Civil Affairs Group, CRSAFP pointed out on his speech that bloggers are great help in promoting the advocacies of the AFP.
During the event, Lt.Col Emmanuel Garcia discussed the importance of the effort of the AFP to counter violent extremism. He mentioned that recruitment of young people is happening now on social media. Likewise, he stressed the need for collaboration with bloggers to spread awareness.
In addition, Major Gene Orense the Group Commander of Information Development Group discussed the AFP’s efforts on social media. He presented some of the posts of the Civil Relations Service Facebook Page that gathered numerous numbers of hits, likes, and shares.
Meanwhile, Major General Bienvenido Datuin Jr., Commander of the Civil Relations Service, said that bloggers' suggestions matters to the AFP as the institution continues its online efforts.
“We in the AFP believe that your expertise will help us improve our online initiatives. Your inputs, comments, and suggestions will be greatly appreciated by the institution, as we continue to provide services for the Filipino people,” Datuin added.
In closing, Datuin hopes that the partnership of the AFP with the bloggers will continue.
