Globe Business, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) arm of Globe Telecom, recently showcased an array of solutions designed to empower enterprises to create digital ecosystems that provide secure and seamless connections with their stakeholders.
During an event titled Breakthrough with Globe Business Solutions held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, key leaders and executives from various industries got a chance to network and explore solutions from world-class providers Amazon Web Services, Google, RightCloud, GoCanvas, Trustwave, and Bitsight, all of which are now offered by Globe Business.
“Globe has gone through the same journey as most of our enterprise clients. We always need to try new technologies, set up quickly at minimal cost, and constantly test new products until we figure out what will work for our customers. We cannot do this on traditional and on-premise environments where costs will be too high. Cloud has given us the flexibility and ability to innovate quickly, continuously, and at scale,” said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO.
“As an enterprise, we also have access to critical information about our customers and as a responsible company, we need to protect that by ensuring that we have the right cybersecurity tools in place to fight evolving threats that may compromise our data, jeopardize our operations, and most importantly impact our customers,” he added.
Making itself a perfect example before offering solutions to other businesses, Globe Telecom has been taking advantage of the cloud, together with cybersecurity tools, to drive agility and scalability by storing, analyzing, and calculating data. In August 2011, Globe Business became the first telecom company to provide cloud computing solutions in the country when it rolled out its own Private Cloud, a service that enables enterprises to acquire their cloud and optional connectivity from one provider.
Globe also made a milestone when it put up the first and only Federated Advanced Security Operations Center (ASOC) in the Philippines. The Globe Federated ASOC offers customer service platform management, threat detection, threat hunting, and incident response for its own network and the network of its customers. Linked to Trustwave's global network of nine ASOCs from around the world, the Federated ASOC gives Globe the ability to monitor threats and deliver proactive security services.
Globe’s journey to the cloud, in partnership with providers such as Amazon Webs Services, has enabled the telco giant to reduce provisioning time from the usual 90 days to less than two days, ensure 99.99% operational uptime, and improve security by up to 100%. Moreover, Globe has reached 30% total cost of ownership (TCO) savings and a substantial USD 5 million year-on-year savings. By 2020, the telco giant is aiming to achieve a unified cloud ecosystem featuring bi-modal IT, end-to-end automation, self-healing applications, and self-optimizing cloud.
“Globe Business has been relentless in coming up with advanced solutions that fit the needs of our enterprise clients as they continue to grow and expand. We want to help them gain new customers faster and provide them with the ability to serve new markets quickly for improved profitability and lasting relationship with their customers. We want our clients to know that we can help them manage risks and strengthen digital trust to make their brands become more successful in the 21st century,” said Peter Maquera, Globe Senior Vice President for Enterprise Group.
