Amid pandemic, schools find 'smart' ways to continue learning

The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted everyone’s regular routines, including school classes from kinder to college. Some educational institutions, however, are not letting the virus stop their students’ learning. Indeed, along the way, they are learning valuable life lessons. One of these schools is St. Scholastica’s College (SSC) Manila, where teachers and students are using messaging apps, video conferences, personal computers, and mobile devices to hold their classes online. Classes at SSC for all levels are continuing until the end of its school year in May. With SSC ending their online classes on April 24, the students will spend the following weeks finishing their remaining school work with the guidance of their teachers. “The crisis definitely had major effects on our learning targets, specifically students’ attainment of required competencies. Resourceful Filipino volunteer uses Brother sewing machines to produce PPEs for frontliners

As the Philippines undergoes its enhanced community quarantine to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19, many Filipinos are stepping up and helping out in any way they can, serving as an inspiration to many others to also do their part for everyone in need. SAMSUNG 321 app’s newest update now includes COVID-19 Hotline numbers to aid users for any concerns and emergencies related to the global pandemic. A dedicated COVID-19 emergency button now displays the DOH and Red Cross' COVID-19 hotlines. Contacts for DOH, PNP and the Philippine Red Cross have been updated as well. Launched in 2016, the app enables quick access to a current list of over 900 validated emergency contact numbers and locations all organized into categories such as Medical Assistance, Red Cross, Police Stations, Fire Stations, National Disaster Hotlines, and Motor and Traffic Assistance.
