Eastern Communications kicks off 'Eastern Playground' hackathon for Filipino students

Eastern Communications, one of the premier telecommunications companies in the country, recently announced Eastern Playground, a virtual hackathon for Filipino students in line with the goal of cultivating the next batch of innovators and disruptors. In partnership with the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE), the initiative seeks to bring together programs that are designed for nation-building, improving the lives of Filipinos, and answering pandemic-related needs. Interested participants can register online until Oct. 13, 2021, with a maximum of five members in Senior High School or College Level. Aside from the concept, the entries will also be evaluated based on the accessibility of the project. Programs must instill the concept of deep-dive thinking with feasibility studies and must have commercial appeal. The hackathon will have two rounds. Huawei donates $200,000 to support PLDT, Smart CSR initiatives

Chinese tech giant Huawei has donated $200,000, or about P10.11 million, to PLDT Smart Foundation (PSF) to help fund the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications Inc.
